More than 60,000 containers of a protein powder Jennifer Aniston loves are being recalled over fears they may contain plastic fragments.

Vital Proteins has issued a voluntary recall on its unflavored collagen peptide powder, urging customers to throw out the affected cans immediately.

The recall notice stated that the containers of collagen peptides were sold in U.S. stores in 20 states between April 17 and 24 and have an expiration date of January 2028.

Consumers can find out if their powder is one of the recalled ones by checking the batch label, which can be found printed in black just below the barcode on the back of the container. The batch code for the recalled containers is 30095993HA.

Officials warn that people who unknowingly ingest the plastic shards could suffer lacerations or cuts to the tongue, throat, stomach and intestines.

Costco warned that “pieces of a broken blue lid could be in one or more containers” in its notice announcing the recall.

These had likely gotten into the $29-a-can products during the manufacturing process when a machine broke down.

No injuries from the products have been reported so far and the risk to consumers is considered “low”.

The recalled products were sold in a total of 20 states: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont and Wisconsin.

Some of the items were also sold in Puerto Rico.

Costco said, “Please do not consume any product marked with the above lot code and expiration date and return the item to your local Costco for a full refund.”

‘No other Vital Proteins product or date code is affected by this issue. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.’

Vital Proteins is considered one of the most popular protein brands in the United States, with revenues exceeding $150 million annually.

Jennifer Aniston called it her “go-to” collagen last year and said she always puts it in her morning coffee or smoothie.

She previously said, “I do this on an empty stomach to get the maximum benefits and kickstart my protein intake for the day.”

“Not only does this help me recover from workouts easier, but I’ve personally noticed a big difference in my skin, hair, and nails due to the hyaluronic acid and vitamin C in this blend.”

Vital Proteins is also the official collagen of the Chicago Cubs in his hometown.

Collagen peptides aren’t the best protein for building muscle, but they are purported to help strengthen hair, nails, and skin.

Protein can also help muscles recover after exercise, with peptides helping to repair the structure of tendons, ligaments and muscles.

Some users even report that they look “younger” after using the products.
